Sofia Nordgren is a Swedish international speaker, educator, author and strategic consultant with more than 30 years of professional experience in healthcare, health promotion and human wellbeing.
A Registered Nurse since 1994, Sofia has built a multidisciplinary career spanning healthcare, entrepreneurship, education, holistic and mental health, workplace wellbeing, leadership, communication and organisational development. She has worked across healthcare, municipalities, organisations and the corporate sector, supporting development at individual, group and organisational levels.
Her approach is holistic and human-centred, recognising the connection between physical, mental, emotional and social wellbeing. Her work addresses areas including mental wellbeing, psychosocial work environments, resilience, sustainable working life, leadership and self-leadership, communication, inclusion, personal development and organisational change.
A central theme throughout Sofia's work is raising awareness, questioning established assumptions and opening up new perspectives. Through lectures, workshops, facilitation, mentoring and strategic assignments, she creates space for reflection, dialogue and development — whether the focus is an individual's wellbeing, a team's working environment or wider organisational change.
Identity, Adoption & Human Rights
Another significant part of Sofia's work has grown from her own lived experience.
Born in Bangladesh and adopted to Sweden as a young child, Sofia has been engaged in intercountry adoption and adoptee perspectives for nearly three decades. Her personal search for her origins developed into long-term research into her own adoption history, return journeys to Bangladesh, international networks, writing, advocacy and public dialogue.
Her work explores intercountry adoption, identity, belonging, origins and reunion, family separation, inclusion and exclusion, racism, discrimination, mental wellbeing and human rights. She combines lived experience with research, professional knowledge and ongoing engagement with international developments and perspectives within the adoption field.
Sofia has contributed to these conversations through international conferences, lectures, panel discussions, articles, podcasts and interviews, alongside adoptees, researchers, professionals, biological families, activists and organisations from different countries.
Her international speaking engagements include appearances in New York and Belgrade, addressing adoption, identity, trauma, resilience, child protection and human rights.
She is also engaged in advocacy and social impact initiatives connected to adoption, adoptee rights, inclusion and human wellbeing through public dialogue, writing, organisational engagement and policy-related contributions.
Speaker, Author & Storyteller
Communication and storytelling run throughout Sofia's work. She is a contributing author to several books and anthologies within health, personal development and human experience and has appeared in Swedish and international media, podcasts, interviews and publications.
Her experience also includes moderating at Stockholm City Hall, public speaking, stage performance and television, giving her a broad understanding of how to communicate complex subjects in accessible, engaging and human ways.
Sofia is currently developing documentary and autobiographical projects exploring adoption, identity, belonging, family, memory and the search for truth.
Across these different areas runs one common thread: an interest in people, the environments and experiences that shape us, and our capacity for awareness, wellbeing, resilience and change.
Today, Sofia brings together professional expertise, lived experience and storytelling through speaking, education, writing, facilitation, strategic assignments, media and international collaborations.
